There will be plenty of mornings, let this one be mine
Glimmers from the week of March 8th
Violet lounges lazily at my feet as I sit on the front porch of our new Airbnb tucked away in the rolling green hills of Northern California. Dew soaked socks chill my toes, and I zip my puffer to keep out the crisp morning air as we watch the sun rise to greet another day.
After a week of being whipped through desert, forest, snowstorm and sun, gazing out into this California Countryside feels as if I wandered into a dream. Pinch me and I could wake up any second; back to bumping my way along a rural desert road.
I give my toes a little wiggle.
Pinch them against the worn wooden floorboards.
A reality check, grounding me in the gratitude of this moment. In the reality that this small oasis will be the place we will call home for the next month.
I am so happy.
The birds greet the morning sun with a symphony of song as the cows gather skeptically along the fence to my left like nosey neighbors assessing the new family who’s moved in next door. I slowly stand to get a closer look. They startle at the slightest movement. Such curious, timid, little things.
Chickens begin their morning patrol, screeching their cock-a-doodle-doos into baby blue skies. Strutting about the garden while unapologetically announcing their place in this world.
I’m fighting the urge to run inside and grab my phone, the incessant need to document plaguing this otherwise perfect morning.
But I resist.
There will be plenty of mornings, let this one be mine.
After last week’s journey through the American Southwest (dog friendly travel guide coming soon!), settling into life on the farm has been a welcomed breath of fresh air. Nourishing my travel worn soul and preparing me for another month of adventure.

This week’s glimmers include:
Rolling hills of neon green
Curious cows coming to say hello
Beach V
Slow mornings spent reading in the warm California sun
Sunset strolls
Good natural light in a lovingly restored farmhouse
What are some of the little moments of magic that have made up your week? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
PS: Due to a UPS delay postponing the development of my latest batch of film, I’ve decided to postpone this week’s newsletter (A jam-packed travel guide/Our 5 Day National Parks Itinerary through the American Southwest) so that I can publish with the fruits of my labor and also really sell you on this road trip experience because it truly was one of the most breathtaking (and exhausting) adventures to date.
All that said, now that I have a few weeks of publishing under my belt, and 50 whole subscribers (!!), I figured it’s time I stick to a consistent publishing schedule, so if you have any preference on cadence/day of the week, I’d love to hear from you!
Thanks for reading Sincerely, Soph. If you’d like to follow along on our adventure, subscribe for free so you never miss a post. Anything you want covered? Questions? Reply to this email or leave a comment to let me know :)
