If I don’t laugh, I’ll cry
Cross Country Ski fails and other glimmers from the week of February 10th
If I don’t laugh I’ll cry
The beginners luck from last week’s first-time cross country ski excursion must have run out, because this time we left bloodied, bruised and laughing harder than I have in a long, long time. Let me tell ya, nothing humbles you quite like trying to learn a new skill as an adult.
*Not Pictured* our faces driving through the mountains on the way to the trial as we watched the the gas meter drop from 1/4 tank to almost empty in a matter of minutes with no cell service.
Good sun, live music & happy tears
Sitting in my favorite booth, at my new favorite coffee shop, I settled in for an afternoon of reading. A man with a long grey ponytail takes down a guitar from the wall and starts strumming a bluesy, country tune. “Guitar Time Free” reads the sign on the wall beside the now empty hook.
A few minutes later another gentleman sits and pulls a Violin out from it’s case, introducing himself, before jumping in and adding his own lively twist. An older woman takes an empty seat at my table. She’s nursing a steaming cup of tea and swaying gently to the music that dances through the air. Not a phone in sight.
A very Sweet(heart) Serenade
We spent Friday Night back at the Coffee Shop, sipping cacao, listening to more live music. We may have started the night as one of the only two people in attendance who did not personally know the artists, but we ended it with a shout out on stage for becoming the last artist’s new friend.
The last song was an impromptu performance of a jazzy, bluegrassy tune that I had never heard but somehow everyone in the room knew the words to - Audience members included - effortlessly harmonizing on the spot. I swear this might be one of the most musical places in the world.
